We're Read and Cecily! 

Lately, we've been to a lot of weddings - beautiful, magical weddings for people we love which brings upon the question: when are you two tying the knot?  

Don't worry, Mom and Dad.  We will, we promise.  But before we do, before we buy the dress and the cake and the whole spit-roasted pig (Read's one request), we're on a mission to see as much of the world as we can afford. 

For the last seven years we've lived together in New York.  We've gone from a college dorm to an SRO to a Harlem brownstone to our very own slice of the city.  The last three years have been a hustle, holding down jobs, running a tech company (Read), writing a novel (Cecily) and 2013 brought an epiphany.  

All the money we'd been waking up at 5am for, working on the weekends for, schmoozing for, arguing for - we wanted to spend it differently.  We wanted to shake up our lives and find a way to be uncomfortable, to disconnect and distance ourselves from the yuppies we'd become - if even just for a year.  

Starting February 14th, we have ten months to make it through Morocco and India, Southeast Asia, China, Japan and back through Europe.  

We wander well together, we really do.  Read barters and Cecily reads the map.  Cecily oversees the packing and Read manages the gadgets.  We love languages.  We eat everything.  

We hope this blog will shed some light on the joys and challenges of extended travel.  We'd love tips from those who have already done it, and hope our experiences will help those of you on your way.
